How to help
Adoption
One way to help the Animal Shelter, and ultimately the animals of DeSoto Parish, is to consider adoption instead of purchasing a pet or encouraging others to adopt instead of purchasing. Visit the Shelter and see who the residents are. You may find your furry soul mate.
If you’ve made the decision to adopt, a copy of the adoption application is below. Print the form and complete it at your convenience.
Volunteering
The Animal Shelter loves volunteers, especially our younger volunteers. The Shelter is always looking for kids to come read to or interact with the residents. We love it when people come to help us clean the kennels, or whatever else is needed, so that the Shelter stays in a clean and safe condition for the precious animals who live there. Believe it or not, we always have “loads” of laundry to do. Who doesn’t love to wash and fold towels and beds.
If you have the free time and would like to donate your time to a good cause, please consider the Animal Shelter.
If you’ve made the decision to volunteer, a copy of the volunteer application is below. Print the form and complete it at your convenience. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Foster
The DeSoto Parish Animal Shelter is a small rural shelter with a limited number of kennels for the dogs and cats. To be able to help more animals, the Shelter often reaches out to “Fosters”. A foster provides a safe place for a resident waiting for adoption or rescue. It is a commitment and if you are considering becoming a foster, we recommend that you contact us directly so that we can explain the process and answer all of your questions.
Being a foster can be a rewarding experience as you give that animal a second chance. If you have the room in your home and your heart and you’d like to become a foster, a copy of the foster application is below. Print the form and complete it at your convenience.
